 Contest

for the pupils of the 4^th form

Who knows English better?

 Мета.  Повторити вивчену лексику та граматичні структури, розвивати мовну здогадку, пам’ять, увагу;   удосконалювати вміння учнів працювати в команді, розвивати інтерес до вивчення англійської мови.

Хід заняття

 Організаційний момент.

T: Hello, everybody! I am glad to see you at our contest “Who knows English better?”  We have two teams, 4A and 4B. You will speak, read, listen and write. You will demonstrate how you understand and use English. Let’s  start.

Warming up

- Name the days of the week;

- Name the months of the year;

- Name hobbies;

- Name school subjects.

Phonetics

Read the transcription of the words:

Halfpay, spoon, queen, matrass, secretary, apparatus,  appetite, apricot, irritate,  flasket.

Reading

Read the text. You have one minute for doing it . The winner is the pupil who reads more words correctly.

Text 1. 

My friend Ann is 11. She usually gets up at 7 o’clock in the morning and helps her mum to cook breakfast. They make tea and cheese sandwiches. They sometimes cook eggs for breakfast, too.

For sandwiches they take six slices of bread, some butter and some cheese. And for tea they take three teaspoonful of tea and some hot water.

Ann likes sweet tea with milk, so she puts some hot milk and sugar, too. Mum and Dad put sugar in their cups themselves.

Text 2.

My friend Vicky is 12. On Sundays she doesn’t go to school. Her parents stay at home, too.

On Sunday morning Vicky helps her mum. She makes toasts and coffee for her family. For toasts she usually takes three big slices of bread ( for mum, dad and her), some butter and some apple jam.

And for coffee she takes three teaspoonful of coffee and some hot milk.

Vicky likes sweet coffee with milk, so she puts some hot milk  and a teaspoonful of sugar, too. Mum and dad put sugar in their cups themselves.
